Yarmouth police officer honored for heroic save

(NECN: West Yarmouth, Mass.) - A Cape Cod police officer is being honored for his heroics on the job. When he arrived at a West Yarmouth, Massachusetts house fire early Tuesday morning, he ran into the burning home and pulled a woman outside to safety.

47-year-old Sharon Wetherbee is fighting for her life at Massachusetts General Hospital. However, if it wasn't for the help of 29-year-old Officer Marc Thibeault, she might not be alive at all.

Wetherbee was revived by Thibeault and two other Yarmouth police officers at the scene. Once her condition was stabilized, she was flown to the MGH. Early indications show the fire was started by a lit cigarette.
